The primary purpose of this project is to create a detailed studies of the heritage of Indiana Avenue and the Old southside Neighborhood, Indianapolis. My responsibility in this project is to gather as much statistical and archival data as possible s ... o that we can create genealogical histories of people of different races, do outreach with the descendants who either are living here in Indy or outside of the state, get their side of the histories of the area, and to create storytelling experiences through the data. The primary sources we are currently using for the study are censuses, newspaper archives, old maps, photographs, Green books, and historical narratives. Once the study is analyzed and prepared in final format, it will then be used as part of a wider community engagement initiative which has been a long-standing tradition of our institution. Evidence-based laboratory testing is an important, yet sometimes incomplete, step in the diagnosis of active pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) disease. Tuberculosis controllers in a midwestern United States metropolitan health department reported a perform ... ance gap in testing at healthcare facilities throughout the region. One partnering hospital created an electronic clinical decision support (CDS) tool within the electronic health record (EHR) aimed at improving active pulmonary TB disease testing. A program evaluation examined effectiveness of the CDS change on the initial laboratory testing and ordering processes for patients diagnosed with active pulmonary TB at the facility. The tests of interest were acid-fast bacilli (AFB), culture, and nucleic acid amplification testing (NAAT). Read more
