During my semester enrolled in w131 we were tasked with going out into the world and finding an educational experience. Being the caffeine addict that I am, I decided to explore what it is about coffee that is so alluring, and to understand the histo ... ry behind a good cup of coffee. This e-portfolio includes three different writing projects and my coffee crawl through Indianapolis. The Prevalence of Antibiotic Resistance in the Environment (PARE) project, aims to address one of today’s most noted global health concerns, the rising issue of bacterial communities found in the environment acquiring resistance to commonly utilized ... antibiotics. This topic is at the forefront of current medical research due to the consequences it presents to the healthcare system as we know it. Our global reliance on antibiotics makes the possibility of infectious bacterial strains gaining resistance to them in greater numbers all the more threatening in terms of both making what we currently perceive to be the most effective treatment to a number of diseases less so, and potentially even impacting the general status of antibiotics as a viable treatment option.
