The Prevalence of Antibiotic Resistance in the Environment (PARE) project, aims to address one of today’s most noted global health concerns, the rising issue of bacterial communities found in the environment acquiring resistance to commonly utilized ... antibiotics. This topic is at the forefront of current medical research due to the consequences it presents to the healthcare system as we know it. Our global reliance on antibiotics makes the possibility of infectious bacterial strains gaining resistance to them in greater numbers all the more threatening in terms of both making what we currently perceive to be the most effective treatment to a number of diseases less so, and potentially even impacting the general status of antibiotics as a viable treatment option.
