The Adapted Movement Programs increase physical activity for adults and children with disabilities through individualized activity plans and one-on-one pairing with IUPUI students. As a CEA, my tasks include supervising student-client interactions, u ... pdating the AMP Facebook and Instagram accounts, and helping with clinic organization. New this year, Jadon Mehringer and I designed a sensory space that is being utilized during our children's Motor Activity Clinic. Hello! I am an undergraduate student at IUPUI currently working on my bachelor's degree in geology and an environmental science minor. I've been seeking to build a solid foundation in the physical and natural sciences while also exploring a number of ... number of earth science topics to expand my background. I have been working at the Center for Earth and Environmental science as a Community Engagement Associate for over a year now, where I have learned team leadership and key species identification skills. My interests and professional experiences have had a significant role in establishing the trajectory of my career goals. Recently, environmental conservation has been particularly interesting to me. Mothers on the Rise is an organization founded under the Fairbanks School of Public Health's Grassroots Maternal Child Health Initiative. Mothers on the Rise works to support incarcerated mothers as they transition out of incarceration, with the goal ... goal of improving outcomes for both mother and child. During my time with Mothers on the Rise, I worked to transcribe interviews from staff and mothers as a part of a storytelling project the organization is producing. The goal of this project is to raise awareness of the program and its impact, while working to erase the stigma associated with incarceration for mothers and challenge people's preconceived notions about previously incarcerated mothers. For my term as a Community Engagement Associate, I functioned as a teaching assistant for the class Giving and Volunteering in America taught through the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. I created 4 videos (2 videos for each clinic) that shows “Clients of the Week” as well as just a video collage over the entire semester. The first clinic is the Motor Activity that occurs on Saturday's and the Ability Fitness Clinic that occurs on Tu ... on Tuesday's. Throughout the clinics as staff we create certificates for the clients to keep up their motivation. We took pictures and videos of their progress and to update their families via social media.
